Ah yes, the joy of destroyed meniscus can be see on the left hand side of the top picture. The empty space that had developed over the last 4 years from two medial meniscus tears had degraded to the point of me walking bone on bone for the last 6 months or so. The HTO is designed to shift the weight from about 80% on the medial side to something significantly more balanced to better utilize the lateral portion of the knee. 11 Days since the operation and well immobility and pain are still very much my friends.
Well its been 5 days since I had surgery on my leg to deal with a very bad knee. Open Wedge High Tibular osteotomy was completed on Monday afternoon. A few days of extreme pain has subsided and now I’m convalescing at home with the assistance of my beautiful nurse M. While the first night was just silly, its surprisingly reasonable to deal with as long as I’m laying down. Crutches for 8 weeks is going to be hard on everyone. Thankfully we have the support of so many family and friends. .Pictures to follow soon.
Even bigger news that tops the crazy leg breaking surgery to deal with a knee beyond repair and a patient too young for a knee replacement is the wonderful news the my love, my partner, the mother of my beautiful daughter Bella said yes to my request of her hand in marriage.
